Canadian Xpress® Flying VFR Basics
These lessons demonstrate various aircraft systems and how to handle an aircraft without the use of automated flight control systems.

UNDERSTANDING FLIGHT
  • Four forces of flight.
  • Center of gravity.
  • Aircraft axis.
  • Make coordinated turns with proper rudder pressure.
  • Understand aircraft performance and limitations.
  • Make appropriate engine and configuration changes to comply with ATC instructions.
  • Choose a heading to compensate for winds aloft to follow a consistent ground track +- 10 degrees.
  • Start the aircraft from a cold condition, bring all aircraft systems to flight readiness, and return the aircraft to cold after parking at the end of the flight.
  • Taxi, take off, level, cruise, approach and land the aircraft within the published engine, configuration, and airspeed parameters.
  • Understand emergencies appropriate for the aircraft type and how to conduct them on the VATSIM network provided ATC approval is secured prior to commencing the emergency.
